• Sexual abuse. India approves death penalty for "most brutal" cases of child sexual abuse
  • Conviction: India executes the four convicted for the violation that marked the country in 2012

The Indian Police have arrested two people allegedly related to the sexual abuse suffered by a 14-year-old woman with coronavirus in a field hospital in New Delhi. He is the material author of the abuses, 19 years old, and another individual who recorded the assault, as reported by the local police chief.

The sexual assault happened last week, but the Police has only intervened after the news was broadcast about it in the last few hours. Both the minor and the accused entered with mild symptoms of Covid-19. In her complaint, the victim described that she was assaulted in one of the bathrooms and that the second arrested man recorded the incident on his mobile, according to 'The Hindustan Times'.

According to the police version collected by this means, the minor was transferred to another public hospital where she continues to receive treatment and the assailants, also under treatment by Covid-19, remain in custody in a different center. The field hospital where the events occurred is located in the south of the capital and has more than 10,000 beds to serve patients. But it is not the first sexual assault in a field hospital of this type. Last week, a woman was allegedly assaulted in a Bombay quarantine center, and a week earlier a security guard was arrested for raping a minor in the city of Patna.

Sexual abuse and rape are a recurring phenomenon in India and are generating more and more outrage in society, which demands that the government take immediate measures to tackle this scourge. These cases come to light at a time when more and more women are vulnerable due to the increase in the number of infections in the country.

The Indian Ministry of Health confirmed this Friday a new daily record of coronavirus patients after registering almost 50,000 cases in less than 24 hours. With them, those infected reach 3.2 million patients. India has also crossed the threshold of 30,000 deaths since the coronavirus pandemic hit the country. It is the sixth country in the world by number of deaths caused by Covid-19.
