Thousands of veterans return with a "assembly number"

——Records of veterans fighting on the front line of flood fighting and rescue

A "come", "come" for a lifetime! This is their homeland feelings.

"If there is a war, the recall must be returned"! This is their zhengzheng oath.

In the past few days, continuous heavy rainfall has occurred in many parts of my country, some rivers and lakes are at super-alert water levels, and many places in Anhui, Jiangxi, and Hubei have entered a state of confrontation. Thousands of cadres and masses, the PLA and the Armed Police Forces stood on the flood control embankment in the floods of war and guarding their homes.

The flood situation is the mobilization order, and the danger situation is the "assembly number." On the front line of flood fighting and rescue in various places, we also saw veterans fighting hard. From young men to gray-haired veterans, thousands of veterans are actively engaged in flood prevention and disaster relief work, racing against time to move the masses, block piping, patrol levees, and use practical actions to write the unfading loyalty of retirement. Love, protect the lives and property of the people.

"Old squad leader" stepped forward

Among the armed police officers and soldiers fighting the flood in Xuancheng, Anhui, there was a seventy-year-old "squad leader" who temporarily joined. This 71-year-old man is called Chen Qinhu. He joined the army in 1968 and is a 51-year party veteran. He was worried that the officers and soldiers of the Xuancheng Detachment of the Armed Police, who had come to participate in the fight against the flood, were not familiar with the terrain and took the initiative to act as "guides" for them.

On the assault boat, Chen Qinhu pointed out the specific location of the households in Weishang village for the officers and soldiers, and assisted in the search and rescue of the people who had not been transferred. Some people were unwilling to leave the village, so Chen Qinhu went door to door with officers and soldiers to do the ideological work of the folks. When the villagers were safely transferred, Chen Qinhu (left one in the picture above) stood at attention on the Wuxing Lianwei embankment and thanked the officers and soldiers with a standard military salute. The officers and soldiers also paid tribute to the veteran who came forward with a military salute.

Also in Xuancheng City, the brave posture of a veteran diving into a culvert is awe-inspiring. At 5 am on July 13, Liu Xinghai, a 65-year-old veteran from Shuangqiao Village, Xinfa Town, Langxi County, Xuancheng City, discovered water seepage danger in the south bank of Yongningwei while inspecting the dam. Seeing that the current was getting bigger and turbid, Liu Xinghai didn't have time to think about it. He took the sandbags and jumped into the water without hesitation to stop the leakage of the dam. He and everyone put more than 30 sandbags in a row and didn't plug the culvert until about 6:30 in the morning. After going ashore, everyone persuaded him to go home and rest after being physically exhausted, but he said: "I am a party member or a veteran, can't I take this bit of pain?" Sitting on the shore for a while, Liu Xinghai went to flood prevention again. At work.

Veterans return to the team after hearing "Xun"

On July 11, on the bank of the Changjiang River in Zhujiaqiao Village, Poyang Town, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, hundreds of armed police soldiers were rushing to build the embankment. One of the "warriors" in camouflage was not wearing a police rank. It turned out that he was a retired soldier named Yu Kecong.

In 2018, Yu Kecong retired from the armed police force. Not long ago, he, who lives in Changzhou Township, Poyang County, found on the Internet that his old army was participating in flood fighting in the county, so he hurried from home and asked to join the rescue team. On the night of Yu Kecong's "return to the team", his hometown of Changzhou Township Zhongzhouwei suffered a flood of dams, and many houses were flooded, including Yu Kecong's home.

"When I am on the levee, I just want to fight with my comrades." Yu Kecong said that as a retired soldier, since he returned to the old army, he would definitely defend the dam with his comrades. Due to the high-intensity continuous fighting, Yu Kecong suffered multiple bruises on his body, but he suffered minor injuries and remained on the front line of fighting floods.

In Yongxiu County, Jiangxi Province, a rescue team of young retired college soldiers also came from Shanghai to fight the flood. In this team, the oldest is 31 years old and the youngest is 22 years old. There are both undergraduates who have not graduated from school, and professionals who have graduated for many years. But in the face of the flood, the same experience brought them together, and the same blood ignited their courage to fight the flood.

"After hearing the news that the people of Jiangxi were hit by the floods, I really want to do my part for the people in the old district!" said Wang Siyuan, a retired college student soldier from Shanghai Second Polytechnic University. On July 11, Wang Siyuan issued an order for flood fighting volunteers in his WeChat Moments, which quickly received more than 70 volunteers' responses. After screening, a rescue team composed of 17 retired college students and soldiers was formed. In the early morning of the 14th, they boarded the train from Shanghai to Yongxiu. After an introduction by a local military veteran, the Yongxiu County Public Security Bureau arranged for them to perform flood prevention and flood fighting tasks with the special patrol brigade of the County Public Security Bureau.

Wearing a squad for a day, a lifetime will be a battlefield. A retired college student who participated in the flood fight said that no matter where they are, as long as the motherland and people need it, they always listen to the call.
