• Q&A: A decision of the Supreme Court that will return to prison the convicts of the 'procés'
  • The decision. The Supreme declines the semi-freedom of Carme Forcadell and warns of a "fraud of law" of the Generalitat
  • Justice. Third degree for the prisoners of the 'procés': an unusual semi-freedom in the face of such high penalties

Oriol Junqueras assumes his return to prison and opts for a frontal attack on the State. After verifying how the Supreme Court overturned the semi-freedom granted to Carme Forcadell on Thursday in application of article 100.2 and that this decision leads, in all probability, to the revocation of the third degree for all the independentistas prisoners, the leader of the ERC proposed to counterattack with the organization of a new self-determination referendum with "real effects".

Junqueras picked up the glove arranged by Quim Torra, who on Wednesday already pointed to the need to reissue 1-O to complete the independence process, but asked the President of the Generalitat to overcome the symbolism and orchestrate a vote whose result can be executed.

"We have already experienced a referendum, win it and that it has no consequences. We will need something more than what we did on 1-O," said Junqueras. "It is not enough to do what we would like to do. It has to be different from 1-O for it to have consequences and have the recognition of the international community," the head of the ERC ranks to prove that the null risk of recidivism alleged by the prison services of the Generalitat to grant the third degree to the former vice president of the Govern and the rest of promoters of 1-O is, at least, questionable.

In this explicit way, Junqueras challenged the Supreme Court, just after leaving the Lledoners prison again to spend his second consecutive weekend at his home.

"They pursue that I cannot campaign"

"It is possible that this is the last one that happens at home. They cannot resist the temptation to shut us up completely, no surprise," declared the president of the ERC through the microphones of Catalunya Ràdio who, like TV3 cameras , They have not ceased to serve as speakers for secessionist prisoners since they left their respective jails to enjoy the third degree, which they now fear being abruptly cut short by the intervention of the Supreme Court.

For Junqueras, the Supreme Court seeks to "not be able to campaign" in the Catalan elections. "They cannot avoid interfering in the elections," said the leader of the ERC, knowing that his eventual return to prison would only amplify the victimist discourse that the independence movement exploited in the vote in the regional elections on 21-D, after the application of 155 and in the European ones. Both ERC and the JxCat of Carles Puigdemont called to fill the ballot boxes with separatist ballots to avenge the imprisonment or "exile" of the promoters of 1-O.

Despite his renewed pulse with the State, Junqueras bet on keeping the negotiating table with the Government on the "Catalan conflict" alive. As the Vice President of the Government and the national coordinator of the ERC, Pere Aragonès , already stressed on Thursday , the aim of the Catalan Executive is to demand of Pedro Sánchez the approval of an amnesty law that allows the release of secessionist prisoners by mocking the Supreme Court.
