The director of football of the Girondins de Bordeaux, the Spaniard Eduardo Macia, was dismissed from his post on Friday by the club management, according to an internal note that AFP obtained.

"Noting many dysfunctions within the Football Directorate, the club has decided to separate from Eduardo Macia. Pending the appointment of his successor, the interim will be carried out by Ulrich Ramé under the supervision of President" Frédéric Longuépée, specifies the text.

Macia, 46, a former player and then recruiter for Valencia, subsequently passed by Liverpool, Olympiakos, Fiorentina, Betis and Leicester, was recruited in April 2019 by the former owner GACP, absorbed in December by the fund King Street American Investment.

Without much means at his disposal, Macia had succeeded in attracting Arsenal international defender Laurent Koscielny and brought in many free players. However, its working methods and networks have come under fire during the last semester. In particular, at the beginning of June, they led to the filing of a complaint against him at the Bordeaux prosecutor's office for "illegal exercise of the profession of sports agent" and "organized gang fraud".

In addition, the director of communication Nicolas Calo, who arrived in Haillan last fall, resigned from his post, according to the same note.

These decisions come eight days after the club's successful passage before the DNCG, financial policeman of football, and the announcement of an austerity cure imposed by the sole shareholder King Street.

For months, the scapular club has been experiencing an unprecedented internal crisis, with a president heckled by his supporters who demand his departure. To remedy this, a mediator has been appointed.

On Thursday, several media announced that the Portuguese coach Paulo Sousa, who had considered leaving Bordeaux when training resumed at the end of June but who continues to ensure his mission with his players currently in training at Dinard (Ille- et-Vilaine), had finally decided to stay in Gironde this season.
