It was at 05.30 on Friday that the rescue service was alerted to the building outside Bettna. According to Johan Gagnert, internal commander at Räddsam Mälardalen, this is a fully developed fire.
- It's a larger building. Originally a storage room or magazine, but now converted into a workshop and an apartment. According to the owners, no one should be in the apartment, he says.
The rescue service started extinguishing inside the building, but it was considered too dangerous to continue with it, so they have switched to only external extinguishing.
According to Johan Gagnert, there will probably be a "total damage" to the building.
According to the first forecast, the extinguishing work will continue until just before nine o'clock on Friday. Johan Gagnert believes, however, that the work will continue beyond that.
Rescue forces from Flen, Vrena, Sparreholm and Eskilstuna are on site to fight the fire.
