The former President of the Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy, has just published this Friday a new book, "Le Temps des tempêtes". His signing tour, which began the same day in Ajaccio, allowed him to find his lifelong fans, who are still struggling to recover from his withdrawal from political life.

REPORTAGE

Le Temps des tempêtes , chronicle of the first two years of Nicolas Sarkozy's five-year term by the main interested party, will he become the best-seller of the summer? The previous book of the President of the Republic, Passion , had sold more than 300,000 copies; and the signing tour, which began this Friday, the very day of the release of the new book, went rather (very) well. Within the cultural space of Leclerc d'Ajaccio, Nicolas Sarkozy was welcomed as the messiah.

More than 600 people marched in front of the platform where the former head of state was installed. At the head of the line, Eric, on site since noon. "I am overwhelmed", confides this Ajaccien with a lot of emotions. "I feel like I saw the good Lord. Everyone regrets it."

"He was very nice, I had a great time"

Stéphanie, a fan from the start, is equally delighted. "He was very nice, I had a great time. I still voted for him four times, he was a very good president." Who, according to her, would have "very certainly managed the Covid-19 crisis better than Mr. Macron".

But Nicolas Sarkozy has promised, sworn, this time he is well withdrawn from political life. This does not prevent him from giving his opinion, surprisingly lenient. "I find that the recent decisions, the recent appointments are going in the right direction," he said during the signing session. "I am very relieved that there was a European agreement that goes in the right direction. We do not measure what the consequences would have been without this agreement."
