• Conclusions: Anticorruption asks to investigate Camps for lying in the 'Gürtel' trial

The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office accuses the former president of the Valencian Generalitat Francisco Camps of lying twice under oath, a suspicion for which last Tuesday he asked to be investigated for false testimony in the trial for the Pope's Visit to Valencia. This is one of the pieces in which the 'Gürtel case' is broken down and addresses alleged irregularities in various contracts.

The prosecutor Concepción Nicolás relies on two elements: the statement of José Tomás - known as 'El Sastre' because for years he made garments for the corrupt plot - and the documentation seized by the Police . According to El Sastre, Álvaro Pérez 'El Bigotes' and the former president of the Generalitat went together to buy two chaqués on the occasion of Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Valencia.

Francisco Camps has always denied that he had a personal relationship with him. In addition, indicates Anticorruption, in the documents requisitioned to the plot appears a trip to Rome in the name of El Bigotes for two people in which, the Public Ministry understands, the companion was the former head of the Valencian Consell.

Both extremes would prove, according to the prosecutor, the close relationship between the two. In this way, Nicolás yesterday gave shape to his unspecific "Camps was not truthful in facts that can be clearly verified" on Tuesday when he announced that he would ask to investigate him.

In his statement of June 18 as a witness in the trial for the Pope's Visit, the former autonomous president denied that he had ordered allotments to the plot and assured that with his manager in Valencia, El Bigotes, he would not go "even around the corner from the corner". Yesterday, after knowing the reasons for requesting that evidence be deducted, he charged the Prosecutor's Office. "Is not telling the truth. This is a persecution that has already lasted eleven years ».

Camps also referred to the two tickets to Rome. He insisted that the trip was organized on the occasion of the ordination as cardinal of Antonio Cañizares, and that he participated in it within the delegation led by the central government.

"If the prosecutor was not covered by the Fiscal Statute, today she would file a complaint against her," he warned.

Nicolás' request for evidence to be deducted puts Camps in a compromised judicial situation, since he is waiting for the National Court to indicate the trial, this time as accused, for the piece by 'Gürtel' on Fitur's contracts that the Prosecutor's Office managed to reactivate two years ago now.

According to judge José de la Mata and Anticorruption, Camps instructed the former general director of institutional promotion Salvadora Ibars to award Orange Market - a Valencian subsidiary of the Correa group - the assembly of the exhibitor for 366,529 euros. In addition, she credited as evidence elements "her knowledge of debts of the Valencian PP with Gürtel".
