Wearing a mask is no longer compulsory in Strasbourg city center. The measure, which was taken by a municipal decree on May 20, was suspended on Monday by the administrative court.

In his decision, the summary judge Henri Simon considers that wearing a mask is "an interference in the exercise of the right to respect for private life within the meaning of Article 8 of the European convention for the protection of human rights. Man and fundamental freedoms ”.

The public prosecutor has been notified of this decision, according to Rue89 Strasbourg. The decision of the administrative court being enforceable, no one can be fined in the city center of Strasbourg for not wearing a mask. The city of Strasbourg now has the possibility of contesting before the Council of State.
