The woman and the man, who was resident in Västmanland, had a relationship at the time of the man's death, in December 2018. The woman would soon be suspected of murder after the man's body was found in a burnt out car in Hedlandet outside Eskilstuna.

When the prosecution was brought in the spring, the investigators had not been able to establish any cause of death and in court the prosecutor's evidence was not considered valid to establish that the woman had murdered the man. On the other hand, the district court considered that the woman had been actively involved in the man's death.

The woman was sentenced on July 6 for breach of the peace and gross fraud to two years and seven months in prison.

Silent in interrogation

Prosecutor Anna Asklöf had demanded a life sentence and said in connection with the verdict that she intended to appeal.

In her appeal, Anna Asklöf now states that there is no other possible perpetrator and that the man did not commit suicide or die in an accident.

The betrothed woman was silent during the interrogations and at the trial, despite indications pointing to her as the perpetrator. A circumstance which, according to the prosecutor, should be something that strengthens the evidence against the woman.
