It was on Tuesday that the customs checked two trucks in Verköhamnen. Customs officers found ten dogs in the trucks. The truck drivers were arrested and later arrested on suspicion of aggravated smuggling.
- It is the number of dogs that controls the criminal suspicion and since there are ten of them, it is described as gross, says Andreas Hultman, officer on duty at customs.
It is now up to the Swedish Board of Agriculture to decide what will happen to the dogs.
