A feminist collective wants to seize the public prosecutor for influence peddling in one of the two cases targeting the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin. The latter's lawyer, Me Mathias Chicheportiche, estimated Wednesday on Europe 1 that Justice had already ruled on this qualification, and had not retained it.

INTERVIEW

Did Gérald Darmanin intercede on behalf of a resident of Tourcoing looking for accommodation in exchange for sexual favors? The Minister of the Interior had been the subject of a preliminary investigation for "abuse of weakness" after these facts, which took place in 2015. This investigation was closed in 2018. But a feminist collective, "Pourvoir feministe", expressed Wednesday on Europe 1 the intention to reopen the investigation, this time for "influence peddling".

For Gerald Darmanin's lawyer, Me Mathias Chicheportiche, however, this is not necessary, since Justice has already ruled on this qualification. "I hear that the qualification of influence peddling would not have been considered. But for the public prosecutor of Paris, there is neither abuse of weakness, nor influence peddling", swept the lawyer on Europe 1 Wednesday evening.
