"The Chinese embassy has received bombing and murder threats," the diplomat wrote on Twitter.

She called it "a consequence of the spread of defamation and incitement to hatred by the US government."

Earlier it was reported that the United States demanded that China close the consulate general in Houston.

Beijing has pledged to take a drastic retaliation if Washington does not back down on its demand.

The US State Department said that the decision to close the diplomatic establishment was made in order to "protect American intellectual property and personal data of Americans."
