China News Service, July 22. According to the Greek "China Greek Times" report, due to the impact of the new crown epidemic, according to a decision of the Greek joint ministerial level, the Greek Ministry of Immigration Policy will again extend the residence permit that is about to expire.
According to Greek Act No. 21221/2020 and 3007/Β/20-7-2020:
1. For third-country citizens who have a residence permit issued in accordance with Law No. 4251/2014 and expire between July 20, 2020 and December 31, 2020, the residence permit will be automatically extended by 8 from the expiry date No need to issue relevant documents and certificates.
Earlier, the Greek government also issued a notice in May stating that the residence expired from March 12, 2020 to June 30, 2020, can be extended to December 31, 2020.
2. Citizens of third countries who hold a valid residence permit and whose expiration date is within the automatic extension of 8 months will legally reside in Greece and retain the rights arising from the exercise of the residence permit.
3. Regarding the renewal of the residence permit, the application can be started on the second day of the expiration date of the original residence permit, and an extension application can be submitted within the automatic extension period.
4. The relevant departments of Greece will, according to their operational and management capabilities, or treat the above-mentioned third country citizens’ applications for extension of their residence permits as a matter of priority.
The bill was signed by Notis Mitarakis, the Greek Minister of Immigration and Asylum. The purpose of extending the residence permit this time is to avoid crowding in relevant departments caused by the epidemic.
