A Madrid court investigates Podemos for the possible commission of crimes of embezzlement of public funds and unfair administration. The 42nd investigative court of the capital has agreed to open a case after receiving a report from the Civil Guard about various economic actions of the training that could be illegal. The investigating judge has already ordered various proceedings, such as the preparation of reports and the taking of statements.

The origin of the cause is in the complaint filed by the former legal head of the Podemos, José Manuel Calvente , in a court in Martorell (Barcelona) for possible illegal financing of the party. Calvente was fired after warning the party of the numerous irregularities that were being committed. A court in the Barcelona town opened some proceedings, within which the Civil Guard has drawn up a statement that would reflect indications of these two crimes. The Barcelona court ended up referring the case to Madrid on the understanding that the alleged crimes had been committed in the capital.

Judge Juan José Escalonilla has summoned the complainant on July 29. He has also summoned to testify on September 15 two other people who were in the legal team of Podemos: the deputy of Podemos Gloria Elizo and Mónica Carmona , fired along with Calvente.

As reported by El Confidencial, among the aspects addressed by the crowded Civil Guard is the hiring for electoral campaigns of the communication agency Neurona Consulting, which also received funds from former Bolivian President Evo Morales .
