Leading research centers in Russia continue to work on the development of a vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, and four drugs have already proven their safety by now. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin told about this during his speech in the State Duma.

“At the moment, 17 organizations (are developing the drug. - RT ) and more than 26 types of vaccines (under investigation. - RT ) ... Four vaccines today, according to Rospotrebnadzor, have proven their safety, and for two practically clinical trials are in the final stages are the center of Gamaleya and the Ministry of Defense. Two are also preparing for the start of trials - Vector and the Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums, ”the head of the Cabinet of Ministers said, expressing the hope that the domestic drug will be ready in the fall.

“The most important thing today is to prepare production sites, make sure that vaccines are safe, and I really hope that we will receive our reliable Russian vaccine against coronavirus in the fall,” Mishustin said.

During his speech with a report on the results of the government's activities for 2019, he also noted that Russia is coping with the epidemic of coronavirus infection better than many countries. The head of the Cabinet associated this with the "timely and correct" measures taken to counter COVID-19, which ultimately helped save thousands of human lives.

Mishustin stressed that the combined efforts of the state and society to combat the disease allowed "to avoid the collapse" that was observed in several countries, including Italy, Spain and the United States.

“Our actions were thoughtful and proactive. They relied on research and recommendations of Russian specialists, as well as world experience. The most powerful analytical center worked. I have repeatedly met with doctors, scientists and experts to develop an optimal strategy, an algorithm for introducing restrictive measures and their subsequent phased cancellation, ”the prime minister said.

He recalled that in Russia, thanks to the efforts of domestic specialists, one of the world's first "effective test systems" were created to conduct an analysis for COVID-19, after which work began to create a vaccine against coronavirus.

“I am convinced that our developments will be in demand in Russia and around the world,” Mishustin emphasized.
