The UAE chaired the 20th meeting of the Ministerial Committee charged with following up the implementation of decisions related to the joint work of the Gulf Cooperation Council states, which was held remotely with the technology of visual communication.

The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Gergawi, who stressed at the beginning of the meeting the importance of cooperation and joint Gulf action, especially in light of the current circumstances the world is going through with the spread of the Corona virus emerging, which affected many economies of the world and changed the lives of its societies , Which necessitates the completion of the process of solidarity, cooperation and continuous coordination between the member states of the Council to overcome any challenges.

He said: «The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf plays a large and pivotal role in building the future of the Gulf peoples, and achieving their aspirations for a better tomorrow for all. The challenges ahead are great, but with the determination, strength and vision of our leaders, this council will remain a source of pride for all the peoples of the Gulf states.

During the meeting, a number of issues were reviewed, in the forefront of which is a report summarizing the efforts of the General Secretariat regarding the implementation by Member States of joint work decisions, and the legislations and procedures that were issued in implementation of the decisions issued by the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council in all areas of joint Gulf action.

The meeting also discussed the mechanisms that the GCC states implement to implement the decisions issued by the Cooperation Council, in a manner that ensures the achievement of the strategic goals of the Council and the aspirations of its citizens.

The meeting discussed a draft of a mechanism to accelerate the ratification of the regulations, laws and agreements approved by the Supreme Council, and what has been accomplished in the areas of the Gulf common market, as was the report of the Statistical Center of the Cooperation Council on the implementation of the third stage of a study measuring the extent of implementation of joint Gulf action decisions on the ground .

The Council plays a major and pivotal role in building the future of the Gulf peoples.
