“At the moment, the Russian Federation has read the complete genomes for 281 isolates of the new coronavirus, which were isolated at different time points from the beginning of the detection of the pathogen in the country,” the statement said.

As noted, bioinformatics analysis indicates that "changes in the viral genome during circulation in the Russian Federation are insignificant."

The ministry noted that 150 COVID-19 genomes are read every month, and an in-depth genetic analysis is also carried out to identify possible mutations.

Earlier it was reported that more than 25.4 million tests for the detection of coronavirus were carried out in Russia.
