In Tylösand, outside Halmstad, the lifeguards have been busy this summer, but no swimmers have died. The average number of people who drowned in June in Sweden during the 2000s is 14. Last year 10 died, this year 23 people is a gloomy record.

- We would have needed more guarded beaches in Sweden, says Louise Brädde, lifeguard in Tylösand.

The reasons behind the high number are believed to be the hot weather at the beginning of the summer and the pandemic that makes more people holiday at home, according to the Lifesaving Society.

In the clip below, you hear Louise Brädde, lifeguard in Tylösand, give three tips to avoid drowning accidents.
