• 'President'.Torra announces that he studies denouncing King Juan Carlos
  • National Court. The judge sends the entire Pujol family to the bench for criminal organization

Last Sunday, a day before the Kings' visit to Catalonia, Quim Torra surprised with the announcement that he is studying to file a complaint against Juan Carlos I. On the grounds that "corruption must be prosecuted regardless of who participates" and that "everyone is equal before the law", the Catalan president ordered his lawyers to denounce "Juan Carlos de Borbón, Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein and all those who in one way or another have participated, helped, cooperated or undercover the corrupt practices in which the former Head of the Spanish State and his environment were alleged to have been involved ».

Asked today if he was considering carrying out a similar action with Jordi Pujol, Torra has denied the possibility of filing a lawsuit against the former president and his family, after the judge of the National Court José de la Mata decided last week to bring on trial the former head of the Catalan government, his wife, Marta Ferrusola , their seven children and 18 other people. In the indictment, the head of the Central Investigating Court number 5 exposes that there are indications to take them to the bench for forming a criminal organization to enrich themselves for decades through activities related to corruption.

A few hours earlier, the President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, had criticized Torra's initiative, considering that the independence movement cannot "give lessons" on account of the institutional crisis affecting the Crown. In an interview on Antena 3, the socialist baron asked if the Catalan leader also intended to file a complaint against Pujol and "remove the plates" with his name at all the inaugurations of his mandate (1980-2003).

The visit of the Kings yesterday to Catalonia, to the monastery of Poblet (Tarragona), was not only surrounded by the controversy of the denunciation of Torra, but by the confrontations between the Mossos d'Esquadra and some protesters in the vicinity of the Cistercian abbey , which motivated the president to request a report from the police chief, Eduard Sallent , on the actions of the agents. To the criticisms already expressed by the ERC or the CUP , the ANC has joined today calling for the dismissal of the Interior Minister, Miquel Buch , because "the Mossos acted as a Royal Guard".
