An Afghan girl killed two Taliban militants and wounded others, in revenge for her parents, who were killed by gunmen in front of their house because of their support for the government in Afghanistan, local officials said.

The incident took place last week when the rebels stormed the house of the girl "Qamar Gul" whose father was the village official in Ghor province.

Local police chief Habibur Rahman Malikzadeh told "AFP" that the "Taliban" fighters were searching for her father because he was supporting the government, and pulled him out of the house and when his wife tried to resist, they were killed in front of their house, according to the police chief.

He added, "Qamar Gul was inside the house and took a machine gun belonging to her father, and killed him with two Taliban elements who killed her parents and wounded others." Officials say the girl is between 14 and 16 years old.

Taliban elements later came to attack the house, but villagers and pro-government elements succeeded in repelling them after the shooting.

A spokesman for the local governor, Muhammad Arif Aber, announced that Afghan security forces had moved the girl and her younger brother to a safe location.

Since the incident, social media has been filled with comments saluting the "heroic work" of the girl. And a picture of the veiled girl spread on her knees with a machine gun.

"I salute her courage!" Najiba Rahmi wrote on Facebook. "The power of the Afghan girl," she wrote on Facebook.

Taliban insurgents regularly kill villagers suspected of collaborating with the government or security forces, and have intensified their attacks on security forces in recent months, despite their acceptance of peace negotiations with Kabul.
