A man presented himself this Thursday at a first aid station on the beach of Dieppe (Seine-Maritime) with an object that looked like a grenade, reports Paris Normandie . He explained to the rescuers having picked up this part a little earlier while walking on the coast.

The man arrived at the first-aid station in the late afternoon and presented the potentially dangerous object. The rescuers immediately put the part delicately on the ground before alerting the departmental fire and rescue service. At the same time, police attended the scene.

Intervention of deminers

The object was then photographed. But the photo did not allow the Group of mine clearance divers from the Channel to identify it, they asked that it be placed in a secure manner, pending their intervention. The object was placed under pebbles, surrounded by barriers and tape so that no one could approach.

Faced with this situation, the police and firefighters wished to remind that one should especially not pick up this type of objects. Their position should be reported to the authorities in the event of such a discovery.
