An Anhui deputy department-level cadre was tried for 22 million yuan bribes
On July 15, a public prosecution was filed by the Xuancheng City Procuratorate of Anhui Province. The case of Xiong Dechao (deputy department level), the former deputy director of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Anhui Province and the former secretary of the Yingshang County Party Committee, was opened in the first instance of the Xuancheng Intermediate Court. The procuratorate accused Xiong Dechao of taking bribes of more than 22 million yuan.
Xiong Dechao's suspected bribery case was investigated and terminated by the Anhui Supervision Commission and transferred to the procuratorial organ for review and prosecution. On February 26, the Anhui Provincial Procuratorate designated the Xuancheng City Procuratorate to review and prosecute the case. In the meantime, the procuratorial organ returned to the supervisory organ for a supplementary investigation.
According to the Xuancheng Procuratorate, from 2005 to 2019, the defendant Xiong Dechao took advantage of his posts as a member of the Standing Committee of the Funan County Party Committee, Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, the Mayor of Yingshang County, and Secretary of the Party Committee of Yingshang County, to help multiple real estate development companies. , The construction company seeks benefits in land acquisition and demolition, planning adjustments, and land transfer fee return, and illegally accepts property from others, which amounts to 22.31 million yuan. After Xiong Dechao arrived at the case, he was able to truthfully confess all the criminal facts. In addition to confessing the relevant bribery facts that the supervisory organ had known, he also voluntarily confessed most of the criminal facts that the supervisory organ had not yet mastered. The procuratorate believes that the criminal responsibility should be investigated for the crime of accepting bribes, and there are circumstances for lighter or lighter punishments as appropriate.
During the trial, the prosecutor presented relevant evidence, the defendant Xiong Dechao and his defender cross-examined the evidence, and the prosecution and defense fully expressed their opinions under the auspices of the court. Xiong Dechao also confessed to all the facts of his crimes and confessed his guilt in the final statement. Representatives of some local municipal people's congresses, members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and staff of municipal agencies attended the trial. The court did not pronounce the verdict in court.
