At around 7 a.m., a 32-year-old man, armed with a saber and semi-automatic rifle, emerged from a bush and started running towards revelers coming out of a private party and faithful who were waiting for the opening of the parish, all gathered in the same parking lot, learned 20 Minutes from corroborating sources, confirming information from the Parisian . He was arrested and taken into custody after being overpowered by the physiognomist of the evening.
The 38-year-old man had already spotted the assailant, dressed in military fatigues and a balaclava, around 3 a.m. after the latter threatened participants in the evening. In the early morning, when he has just closed the establishment and is in the parking lot, the armed individual emerges from the bush and heads, all sabers out, towards the church. Immediately, the physiognomist climbs into his car and hits him for the first time. The man gets up, he slashes the hood of the vehicle with his saber. The physiognomist restarts when he sees the semi-automatic rifle carried over the shoulder and hits it a second time. Once the man is on the ground, he controls him with the help of other passers-by. The assailant, who was not injured, was arrested a few minutes later.
Two other weapons found at his home
“My client has already had to deal with fights, including knife fights, but he had never faced such danger. He made an instinctive gesture when he saw the weapons ”, indicates Me Karim Morand-Lahouazi, who, in addition to the physiognomist, also defends three other people, witnesses of the scene. During the search of the attacker's home in Villemomble, investigators discovered a shotgun and a semi-automatic rifle. An investigation was also opened to identify the provenance of these two undeclared weapons.
In spite of these elements, the case was not transmitted to the national anti-terrorism prosecution. “We are certain that the detainee has absolutely no terrorist profile. No element during the search of his home or in his file tends towards this track, ”says the Bobigny prosecutor's office. What about the fact that it is shouted "Allahu Akbar"? According to our information, the man justified, during his police custody, his behavior by his alcoholic state. He said he drank a bottle of vodka in the evening before scouring the bars of the department. When arrested, the man had a blood alcohol level of nearly 2 grams per liter of blood.
The psychiatric examination did not reveal any disorders other than those caused by his alcohol consumption, specifies the prosecution. "The question that arises: did he drink alcohol to give himself courage before committing an act of war or did he do so under the influence of alcohol?" », Asks Me Karim Morand-Lahouazi. The investigations were entrusted to the judicial police of Seine-Saint-Denis.
