Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 92,000 people have been notified. 477,800 are now without work, according to the Swedish Public Employment Service.

- The warnings are not at all at the same level as in the spring, when the warning wave hit us, says Jens Sandahl, section manager at the Swedish Public Employment Service, to TT.

- Many warnings were given when employers reacted to a crisis, so it has become calmer on that front. Since then, even the employers who could give notice have been on holiday to a large extent.

Downward trend

At present, the unemployment rate is 9.2 per cent, but the figure is higher among young people aged 18 to 24 - where the unemployment rate is 13.3 per cent.

But this week's report also shows a downward trend, and the proportion of new entrants is lower than the week before. But the slowdown may be due to the fact that activity in the labor market has declined during the holiday season.

- It is usually very quiet during July, many have holidays. It is a very special week and it is difficult to draw any conclusions from it, says Jens Sandahl.

The Swedish Public Employment Service's forecast shows that most will be without a job in March 2021. After that, a reduction will take place gradually, the authority believes.
