South Korea's first military-only satellite was launched at Cape Canaveral Air Force Base in Florida, USA at 6:30 am.

SpaceX, an American civilian space exploration company, launched Korea's first military-only communications satellite,'Anasis 2', on a Falcon 9 rocket.

Anasys 2 is a satellite manufactured by Airbus, a European aircraft manufacturer, and the first dedicated communications satellite for the ROK military.

The military has been using Mugunghwa 5, which was launched in 2006, as a communications satellite with civilians, but there have been concerns about security vulnerabilities.

The military expects that this military-only communications satellite has greatly enhanced security and stability, and that it is expected to enhance its ability to perform solo operations.
