A fire decimated a pig farm in Lannilis, in Finistère. According to the gendarmes, 550 animals perished in the disaster that occurred on the night of Sunday to Monday. A total of 200 sows and 350 piglets were killed in the fire which broke out around 1 am in one of the pigsty buildings, we learned from the departmental gendarmerie of Brest. Some animals died of poisoning while others had to be euthanized.

Significant resources have been deployed by the firefighters to overcome the flames. The fire was brought under control in the morning, the same source said. "We are in the investigation phase, it can be as accidental as a voluntary act," said Lieutenant-Colonel Fabien Milliasseau, commander of the departmental gendarmerie in Brest.
