Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed the arrested governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Sergei Furgal in connection with the loss of confidence. In early July, Furgal was detained as part of an investigation into the organization of the murders of businessmen in 2004-2005.
“Dismiss Furgal Sergey Ivanovich from the post of Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory due to the loss of confidence in the President of the Russian Federation,” the Kremlin website says.
Earlier it was reported that State Duma deputy Mikhail Degtyarev was appointed interim governor of the Khabarovsk Territory.
