The woman in her 40s was found dead in an apartment in Majorna on March 5 earlier this year with severe knife injuries. The accused man was arrested the next day and according to the indictment must have used "extreme violence". Among other things, the woman was found with about 50 different knife injuries and several serious injuries to the head.

The man was also charged with a case of aggravated assault and an attempted murder of another person on March 4. These took place in different places, all three places being close to each other.

The trial lasted four days, ending on Friday.

The Gothenburg District Court writes that "convincing evidence exists" and that the perpetrator has committed "the acts prosecuted by the prosecutor in all material respects."

A forensic psychiatric examination will now be carried out to determine whether the man committed the acts during a serious mental disorder. In such cases, the penalty for the man can be forensic psychiatric care.

- He denies the main suspicion. He admits responsibility for assault, says the man's defender Mats Dahlgren.

The man is still in custody. Negotiations will resume at the end of August.
