Solidarity Organization for Human Rights issued a report on victims of armed confrontations in Libya during the first half of this year, indicating that the capital Tripoli leads the death toll as a result of the bombing of militias loyal to retired General Khalifa Haftar, and the mines and booby traps it left after its defeat. Al Jazeera published a video showing the human losses there.

The report published by the organization's website - and covers the period from January 1 to June 30, 2020 - monitored the number of victims that reached 1982 victims, including dead, wounded, detainees or prisoners, as a result of armed confrontations and clashes that took place in different regions and cities. The combatants accounted for 61% of the victims, and the number of civilian victims was 765, including 86 children.

In addition, 1,353 people died in their wrestling (68%), and the number of wounded reached 466 (24%), while the number of families and arrest victims was 163 during this reporting period.

The number of victims reached 668 - in April, making it the most violent month - 34% of the total number of victims during the first six months of the year. In it, 468 people lost their lives due to the serious escalation in armed confrontations in the cities of Tripoli and Sirte.

Incidents were distributed in various regions, and Tripoli topped the statistical number of victims, 949 victims, which constituted more than two thirds of the total victims of armed confrontations in the country during the reporting period, most of which was due to the armed confrontations that took place in and around the city between Haftar forces and the forces affiliated with the Government of Concord.

The victims of these confrontations occurred during that period 534 civilians, including 40 women and 66 children, followed by Sirte with 479 victims (24% of the total victims of the confrontations of the first six months of this year) due to the armed confrontations that occurred in the region between the forces of Haftar and forces loyal to the government of reconciliation.

Human Rights Watch's monitoring shows that the number of civilian victims during the first six months of 2020 reached 765 victims, including 86 children, approximately 70% of whom were in and around the city of Tripoli, as a result of the bombing of militias loyal to Haftar and the result of mines and booby traps left behind after their withdrawal.
