The statistical indicators of the RAK Transport Authority showed that the taxi fleet’s incidents decreased by 41%, as the number of recorded accidents reached 390, during the first half of this year, compared to the same period last year, which witnessed 660 accidents.

Mohamed Hashim Ismail, Director of Quality Control and Operation in the Authority, said that the low rate of accidents in the taxi fleet is due to the Authority’s role in subjecting drivers to awareness-raising and education courses about safe driving, which will enhance traffic safety and continuous follow-up, and by submitting daily reports on The extent of their commitment to the instructions.

He pointed out that the authority undertakes the continuous monitoring of the taxi fleet, applying internal regulations and procedures to drivers, and accounting for non-compliant, and directing them to adhere to traffic regulations to raise the operational efficiency of the authority, and at the same time honor the ideal drivers.

He explained that, in implementation of the approved inspection visits plan for the security and safety team, the team conducted an inspection visit to all the facilities of the Authority from the Happiness Service Center, the main bus station, and the Al-Hamra Communication Center, in addition to the maintenance workshop, to take the necessary corrective measures.

The authority’s Al-Hamra Call Center received 52,530 calls during the first half of this year, compared to 48,480 calls during the same period last year, an increase of 8%, and various services were provided to customers daily 24 hours, including requests to reserve taxis, And respond to inquiries from dealers, and other requests, as statistical indicators showed an increase in customer inquiries about taxi and bus services, and flight times during the Corona virus pandemic by 58%, compared to the same period last year.
