The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, received today, Sunday, Turkish Minister of Defense, Hulusi Akar.

The visit of the Turkish official to Doha comes in light of the strong relations between the State of Qatar and Turkey.

It also comes two weeks after a working visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Qatar on July 2, during which the two leaders discussed strategic relations between the two countries and ways to support them, in addition to regional and international developments.

At that time, Sheikh Tamim expressed his satisfaction with the depth of the relations of the Qatari and Turkish peoples, and pointed to the geographical neighborhood and the common cultural heritage between the Arabs and Turkey, which established constructive cooperation in the development and stability of the region, and an integrated contribution to the progress of all humanity.

It is noteworthy that Turkey maintains a military base in Qatar within the agreement of military cooperation and defense industries signed between the two countries.
