The first person was arrested on suspicion of counterfeiting money on Friday. Another six people were arrested on Saturday in Uddevalla District Court.
-For a couple of weeks, there have been counterfeit banknotes in circulation in Uddevalla and the surrounding area. Some are very skilfully made and on others it is possible to see directly that they are not genuine, says the police's spokesperson Hans Lippens to SVT.
The detainees come from different parts of the country and therefore the police do not rule out that the banknotes may have been found in more places than in northern Bohuslän.
-We do not know, but there is reason to be attentive if you handle cash, says Hans Lippens.
Some fake five hundred bucks were found by a store employee in Grebbestad earlier this week. His tips led to police intervention and you can hear him tell in the clip above. If those arrested are some of those now in custody, the police have not confirmed.
