The Moroccan government decided to proceed to the third stage of the plan to ease the quarantine procedures, starting at midnight last night, based on the daily tracking summaries and the periodic evaluation of the developments of the epidemiological situation of the new Corona virus (Covid-19), to continue to reduce the measures necessary for a gradual return to Normalcy, revitalizing the national economy.

A statement issued by the Moroccan government presidency stated that, according to this decision, tourism institutions will be allowed to use 100% of their housing capacity, without exceeding 50% in restaurants, swimming pools, and sports halls in those facilities, and allow 75% of the absorptive capacity of public transport between and within cities to be allowed. According to specific conditions, authorization to organize official sports meetings without the presence of the public, as well as the reopening of cultural centers, libraries, museums and monuments within the limits of 50% of its capacity.

The statement added that it was also decided to maintain all other precautionary restrictions, which were previously approved in the event of a health emergency, including preventing marriage parties, movie theaters, and public swimming pools, and attending funeral councils.

The government called on the citizens of Morocco to continue their full commitment and strict adherence to all the precautionary measures adopted by the health authorities, especially during the days of Eid Al-Adha, stressing that resort will be made in case of necessity to close all areas and residential neighborhoods that may form new epidemic hotspots.

The Moroccan border remains closed since last March, with it being opened exceptionally last weekend for Moroccans and foreigners residing in the Kingdom. Last Wednesday, some mosques were reopened, depending on the epidemiological situation in each region, with the exception of Friday prayers.

According to the latest official count, Morocco recorded more than 17,000 people infected with the Corona virus, including 269 deaths.
