At least 10 people died from lightning strike in Bihar, India

  Xinhua News Agency, New Delhi, July 19: The disaster management department of Bihar State in northeast India said on the 19th that at least 10 people were killed by lightning strikes in many areas of the state that experienced lightning storms on the same day.

  An official from the Bihar State Disaster Management Department said that three people were killed by lightning strikes in Bournia County, two people were killed in Beguserai County, and one person was killed in each of the other five counties, such as Sehersa.

  Bihar Chief Minister Kumar expressed condolences to the victims on the same day and announced that 400,000 rupees (about 37,300 yuan) of compensation will be provided to each family member of the victims. He called on people to follow the recommendations of the disaster management department and avoid going out in bad weather as much as possible.

  According to Indian media reports, more than 160 people have died from lightning strikes in Bihar in the past three weeks, and only 92 people and 11 people were killed by lightning strikes on June 25 and 30, respectively.

  India is a monsoon rainy season from June to September every year. Thunderstorms occur frequently. Thunderstorms cause casualties. Throughout the rainy season last year, 170 people were killed by lightning in Bihar.
