In September, Folke Blechingberg would go to Mallorca with his wife to cycle. They had booked the trip before the pandemic. Now they do not dare to go.

- We do not want to risk our lives. So I wrote an email to Rolf's flight and bus that we can not live up to the recommendations from the Public Health Agency and that we want to cancel the trip and get back our registration fee.

Refers to the fact that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not advise against it

But it did not work. Rolf's flight and bus write that: “The advice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must always be considered a basis for dismissal. At the moment there is no dissuasion to Spain and therefore the regular conditions for cancellation apply, ie the registration fee is unfortunately not refunded. " The registration fee for Folke Blechingberg and his wife is a total of SEK 3,000.

- These are general rules that have been agreed between the Swedish Consumer Agency and the industry organizations, says Emanuel Karlsson, CEO of Rolf's flight and bus, to SVT News.

He explains that they buy their customers' tickets from the airlines and that it is the airlines that are often not willing to pay back. He also asks to return after taking a closer look at the specific booking.

When SVT talks to two of Sweden's largest tour operators, Ving and Tui, they confirm that the same rules apply to them.

Folke Blechingberg has reported the incident to the General Complaints Board, ARN. ARN does not keep statistics on how many of their travel matters concern someone in the risk group, but it has made an advisory decision in a similar case.

"It is not possible to know now what it looks like then"

After reviewing Folke Blechingberg's case, Emanuel Karlsson, CEO of Rolf's flight and bus, returns to SVT. He has taken a closer look at ARN's decision from 16 June and writes as follows:

"People are going to Mallorca in two months. It is not possible today to know what the situation in Mallorca will look like then or what the Public Health Agency will be able to afford. It is likely that there will be continued restrictions, but at the same time we must assume that sooner or later it will be released at a time that we do not know in advance. What is clear, however, is that if, closer to departure, there will be restrictions that significantly affect the trip, Folke will have to cancel free of charge in accordance with ARN's advice. ”
