As the term of office of the House of Representatives expired more than a year ago, an Aso party was held last week within the LDP. The parties are an important source of funding for each faction and will be held in due course.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, each LDP faction has postponed the party scheduled for this spring.

Under these circumstances, the Aso group held a party last week ahead of other factions.

There were restrictions on the number of people at the venue, and infection control measures such as not eating or drinking were taken.

Revenues from these parties make up 80% of the income of each faction at the highest level and 60% at the lowest level, making it an important source of financial support for political activities.

In the LDP, the term of office of the president will expire in September next year, and the term of office of members of the House of Representatives is expected to expire in October of the following year.

Since it is expected that each faction will need funds such as the presidential election and the lower house election, parties will be held sequentially from September to October.
