The 28-year-old from Värnamo became the second Swede, after Kenny Bräck, to win in the American racing series Indycar, when he was fastest on Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

"It was an important piece of the puzzle in my career and I think it will help me drive a little more relaxed in the future," he said in a press release.

There was no longer time to celebrate and digest the victory. After only five days, it's time to travel again - now on an oval track, the series' shortest. Also this weekend there are double competitions - the first tonight, Swedish time, and the second night until Sunday.

“Iowa Speedway is a really fun track, definitely one of my favorite oval. The lap is only 17 seconds long, you have cars around you all the time, and it's really good racing. ”

"Taken steps on the ovals"

Chips Ganassi driver thinks he has developed on oval tracks for this season, his second in Indycar. In the season's first competition on the oval track, in Texas, he was also on his way to a second place when he crashed with ten laps left.

“We were very fast at the last oval in Texas and I really feel like I have taken a step on the ovals this year. It was something I focused a lot on during the winter ", says Rosenqvist.

"Iowa is a completely different type of course than Texas - a short oval instead of a superspeedway - but I hope the feeling is there as well.
