There are long waiting times for driving up and theory tests in corona times. In the municipality of Jönköping, there are currently no times for theory tests until mid-September.

- We have had to change a lot now due to the corona pandemic. The waiting times are long and the workload is hard, says Roger Paulsson, unit manager at the Swedish Transport Administration to SVT.

-Actually, the situation is the same around the whole country. But people usually cancel and gaps can appear and then we are quick to fill that place again.

Peak

Today, there are a limited number of places both in the waiting room and in the theory room due to the restrictions. In Jönköping, a maximum of twelve people can stay in the same seat.

- We refurnish and try to use the theory rooms to the max. We postpone working hours, postpone lunches and also work weekends to offer customers as many times as we can. But the employees will be heavily burdened and we will therefore employ more people in the autumn if the restrictions do not release, he says.

Many are unprepared

According to Roger Paulsson, many come unprepared and therefore fail with their theory tests and driving tests. This leads to retests and queue times are further extended.

- It is a problem that we notice clearly, because the time is not right in the same way now to do a retest. So I really want to encourage people to come well prepared for the test to ease the load, he says.

There are also long queues in other parts of the country:
