According to reports, the protagonist of the story is called Karim, a laboratory assistant who works at the Basra General Hospital. A video of him inspiring the new crown patient in front of the hospital bed was transmitted to social media. One of the videos showed that Karim was wearing a protective suit and sang a famous song to an old woman infected with the new crown virus. The song was sung by the Iraqi singer Jabell, the song is about a mother's love. At the end of the video, the patient left moving tears.

Karim’s behavior was not only greatly appreciated on social media, he also received a certificate of commendation from the Iraqi Ministry of Health, but he said that he did not sing in order to attract attention or get praise from social media.

Karim said he sympathized with the new crown patients because he had also been infected and forced to isolate himself, which he called a "painful experience."

Karim also said, "Singing is my way of comforting patients, especially for patients with new crowns, because there is no vaccine, so the lyrics, tunes, and melody of the song can inspire their spirits."

According to reports, Karim has been singing since the age of 13, and has been working in Basra's medical system for more than 10 years. He also often sings traditional Iraqi songs in hospitals. "Through these songs, patients feel safe, secure and hopeful," Karim said.

At the same time, Karim also believes that "when patients are hospitalized, they are not only (physically) infected, but also psychologically traumatized, so they need emotional support, and this support can be found in music." He said, "I assured them with singing that we are here and we are helping them."

According to reports, later in July, Karim will also record a song with Iraqi singer Saif and dedicate it to medical staff who are fighting the new crown virus. Karim said, "I will make every effort to ensure that patients survive this difficult period."
