World Trade Organization, WTO Secretary-General Yu Myung-hee, head of the Trade and Industry Head of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, emphasized that he is the right person to restore the WTO's functions and realize its vision.

In the announcement of the nomination of candidates held at the WTO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, the president of the United States pointed to the crisis of the WTO, including suspension of the negotiation function and paralysis of the dispute resolution function.

He emphasized that the WTO should be reborn as a reliable, resilient, and responsive organization to restore global trust.

Yu emphasized that this vision can be achieved by mobilizing 25 years of practical knowledge and expertise accumulated in the field of commerce, experience and political capacity as a minister of commerce.

Yu announced the opinions for 15 minutes on the day and responded to questions from member countries for 75 minutes.

The announcement of eight candidates starting on the 16th will continue until the 17th in the order of candidate registration, after which the candidates will hold a campaign for two months against member countries.

Subsequently, the member countries plan to elect the next secretary-general at the latest by early November after consultation.
