Recent statistics from the Swedish Public Employment Service show that there are currently 1,980 jobseekers in the county aged 18 to 24. At the same time last year, there were 1,050 jobseekers. The main reason for the increase is the corona pandemic.

Arbetsförmedlingarna now gathers forces around the country and employs 330 decision-makers on a fixed-term basis, of which ten go to Halland.

- When there have been so many new unemployed in such a short time and still try to do what we can, then we need more hands and feet, says Lars Öhlund, Head of Employment in Halland.

Largest increase in northern Halland

The northern parts of Halland are where you can see the largest increase in jobseekers compared to last year. In Varberg there are 141 more, Falkenberg 152 and in Kungsbacka 240 new jobseekers.

- Our assessment is that it is very much about the proximity to Gothenburg. The closer you live, the more people commute and work there, says Lars Öhlund.

You can see in the clip above how Arbetsförmedlingen will cope with the increased pressure and in which industries there is still a demand.
