The most interesting thing about the meetings of the National Executive Committee of the PP is usually the postpartum . In other words, the traditional food of all the regional presidents popular with Pablo Casado. It is a sacrosanct rite in the PP, in which one speaks without hindrance and analyzes the direction of the party, or the present day. In that of this Wednesday, which lasted almost five hours -from 3:00 pm to 7:45 pm-, only one topic was discussed, fundamentally: should the PP repeat its coalition with Citizens after the bad result in the Basque Country?

According to sources related to EL MUNDO at the meeting, there were two leaders who led the refusal to reissue the joint candidacy with the orange formation . The first, Alejandro Fernández , president of the PP of Catalonia, who said it both at the Executive Committee and at lunch. The second, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who advocated that the PP navigate alone and mark his own profile after 12-J.

Fernández was resounding: "no" to a joint ballot of popular and oranges in the Catalan autonomic elections, which he sees as very close. In the Committee's turn to reply, the Catalan PP leader explained that there are "strong rumors of elections in Catalonia", and concluded that Cs would no longer add additional voters to the PP, but could cause voters to lose to the PSOE or Vox.

In a "good atmosphere", the rest of the leaders "sailed" between the pros and cons, according to the same sources. Feijóo did strongly support Fernández. "After what has happened in the Basque Country, especially, and Galicia, going with Cs does not provide us, he said," the sources point out. "Agreeing with a political party that is continually agreeing with [Pedro] Sánchez subtracts us," they added.

Coalitions with Cs

The four barons of the PP who govern in coalition with Cs, Juan Manuel Moreno (Andalusia), Isabel Díaz Ayuso (Community of Madrid), Fernando López Miras (Murcia) and Alfonso Fernández Mañueco (Castilla y León), asked to raise the possible estrangement of Cs with care, because they have years of government with them. They argue that "they are different parties and they do not see badly not joining together, but you have to maintain a good relationship," the sources say.

The party's general secretary, Teodoro García Egea, asked to analyze pros and cons and sit down to talk to Cs, to see what he offers. That is, "recognize the stage". He was supported by several leaders present at the meal.

"Married has not entered the debate. He has only listened and, to a certain extent, has moderated it," the same sources point out. "There is no intention to betray Ciudadanos," they conclude.
