"In an exchange of views on the state of affairs in Syria, leaders noted the timeliness of decisions based on the tripartite video conference organized by the Iranian side on July 1, 2020, at the Astana process," the Kremlin said.

The parties reaffirmed their commitment to coordination in order to achieve peace in Syria and improve the humanitarian situation in this country.

In addition, the presidents informed each other about measures taken to counter the spread of coronavirus infection.

“It was agreed to continue cooperation in the fight against the pandemic, including through the ministries of health,” they said.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin, in a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, said that sanctions pressure on Iran was unpromising.
