The United Nations envoy to Yemen condemned the bombing of the Saudi-Emirati coalition that targeted yesterday a circumcision ceremony in the village of the north of the country, killing and injuring most of them women and children, and called for an investigation into this incident in a comprehensive and transparent manner.

In tweets on Twitter, UN envoy Martin Griffiths said that attacking civilians and civilian infrastructure from any of the parties to the conflict is reprehensible and against the law, and it is unacceptable that the war continues with such a devastating impact on the lives of Yemenis.

He added that his office continues to negotiate with the parties to reach an agreement on a ceasefire that preserves the lives of civilians in Yemen.

Yemeni medical and local sources reported that 24 civilians, including women and children, were killed in the raid that targeted homes in the "Al-Masafa" area, east of Al-Hazm, the administrative center of Al-Jawf governorate, northeast of Sanaa.

The activist of Mwatana Organization for Human Rights in Al-Jouf Omar Al-Namim said that the raid targeted the homes of civilians in the village, adding to the Associated Press that most of them were children and women.

The victims were celebrating the circumcision of an infant less than a week old, and he was among those killed in the bombing, according to the Health Ministry in the Houthi government.

A previous raid had killed at least 7 children and two women in the northwestern Hajjah governorate, according to the United Nations Office in Yemen.
