According to authorities, the Pakistani military tried to establish new checkpoints in Sarkano County, but the Afghan armed forces prevented this, which led to the opening of fire.

“The Pakistani armed forces arrived by helicopter, and they intended to create checkpoints, our security forces did not allow this, and then a clash ensued,” provincial council member Dean Mohammad Safai quoted Tolo News as saying.

During the shootout, several Afghan soldiers were killed and a number of Afghanistan checkpoints were destroyed.

In May, five people were killed and four injured in an attack by militants at a hospital in Kabul.
