“The efforts to prevent this important work reflect a clear neglect of the interests of European households and industry, which will pay extra billions for gas if this pipeline is not built,” TASS quoted the press service of the company.

Nord Stream 2 AG also said that European Union energy policy decisions should be left to Europeans.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the US State Department updated the recommendations under the CAATSA law and included Nord Stream 2 and the second thread of the Turkish Stream.

Later, the US State Department announced that the American side will not impose sanctions against companies involved in the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline and the second branch of the Turkish Stream under the sanctions law - CAATSA.

At the same time, they said in Washington that if they consider the imposition of sanctions in accordance with Section 232 to be appropriate, then "they will do it without hesitation."
