He recalled that, as part of the president’s instructions, a package of measures is being developed aimed at ensuring the possibility of phased commissioning of highly automated vehicles on the roads without the presence of a test engineer in the cabin.

“The implementation of the event, we expect, will allow to launch drones on the roads in stages by 2024, taking into account ensuring the necessary level of safety,” Semenov said.

According to him, the first stage of the technological readiness of highly automated transport has been completed and a transition to the second, the practical implementation of the mass use of these technologies, is underway.

In mid-April, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin ordered a number of departments, including the Ministry of Transport, to develop the issue of phased commissioning of vehicles without the presence of a test engineer in the cabin.
