Medical and local sources said that 24 civilians - including women and children - were killed as a result of a raid by the Saudi-Emirati military coalition aircraft targeting homes in Al-Masafa area, east of Al-Hazm, the administrative center of Al-Jawf governorate, northern Yemen.

The sources added that a number of victims were taken to hospitals in the area that was witnessing a wedding, and that the raid led to the destruction of three houses, while the bodies of some of the dead were turned into pieces.

A spokesman for the Houthi-run Ministry of Health said that the Saudi-led coalition airstrikes had hit homes in Al-Hazm, killing nine people, including two children and two women.

Control of those involved

On the other hand, the Yemeni army announced today the control of sites that it described as strategic and important in the Al-Dhalea governorate, in the south of the country.

The spokesperson for the Al-Dhali ’axis in the army, Fouad Jabbari, said that their forces, backed by southern resistance elements, launched a major attack today on locations where the Houthi militants are based, in the north of the governorate, using various types of weapons.

In a related development, a statement issued by the media center for the axis of Al-Dhalea today reported that 298 Houthi militants had been killed in clashes that erupted in the governorate last June.

The statement pointed out that during the past days, the army forces have captured dozens of militia members, including a group of important military leaders, without mentioning a specific number.

For the sixth year, Yemen has witnessed heavy fighting between government forces that have been supporting it since March 2015, an Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia, and the Iranian-backed Houthi group, which has controlled provinces including the capital, Sanaa, since 2014.

The war has left one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, with more than 80% of the Yemeni population dependent on aid to survive.
