The Turkish government insists on its demands with Western countries to hand over the personalities accused of masterminding and executing the failed coup on July 15, 2016, although these countries ignore this file.

And with the fourth anniversary of that coup attempt, Ankara continues to denounce the positions of those countries that accuse it of providing safe haven and even support for members of the Fatah Allah Gülen group, which is the first requirement of the Turkish authorities in this case.

Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Qalan pointed to the backgrounds of this issue, saying that the stances of many countries towards the coup attempt were summed up in one phrase: "Wait to see the result."

They said at a symposium held on the sidelines of the "TRT World" forum that Turkey was very disappointed about the silence and control positions that had emerged from many countries towards the coup attempt.

"Although four years have passed since the failed attempt, countries in NATO (NATO) as well as the European Union and the United States have not been able to understand the danger of this organization," he added, referring to the Gülen group which Ankara calls "a terrorist organization" and a "parallel organization". To the state.

They said that the Turkish government is still following Gulen's file residing in the United States, and Ankara's repeated requests to Washington to hand him over.

He pointed out that Turkey provided all evidence related to Gulen's involvement in the coup attempt to the American side.

He added that the group's activities in the United States against Turkey were reflected in Turkish-American relations.

The events of the failed coup took place in Turkey on the night of July 15, 2016, by elements of the army who tried to control the joints of the state and its security and media institutions, and the assassination of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The authorities accused those elements of belonging to the Gülen community.

The coup attempt was met with massive popular protests in most Turkish cities, as crowds of citizens went towards the Parliament building, the Chief of Staff in the capital, Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, and security directorates in many cities, which forced military mechanisms that were spread around them to withdraw, and contributed significantly to the failure Overturning scheme.

More than 800 are required

Since the failed coup, the Turkish Ministry of Justice has submitted requests for the extradition of 807 people accused of belonging to the Gülen community from 105 countries, most notably the United States, Germany, Romania and Belgium, according to the Turkish newspaper, Sabah, which is close to the government.

The newspaper shows that only 116 of them were delivered by 27 countries.

At the head of the most wanted is Fethullah Gulen, who is based in the US state of Pennsylvania, then Adel Aksuz, whom Ankara accuses of plotting the failed coup on behalf of Gulen and in conjunction with senior military leaders.

Gulen file

The first steps in demanding the extradition of Gulen began under US President Barack Obama. On July 19, 2016, the Turkish Ministry of Justice sent four files related to the extradition request to the US authorities.

In the following month, two delegations from the US Department of State and the State Department made a visit to Turkey regarding the handover of Gulen, during which the Turkish side presented what it said were important evidence that demonstrated the responsibility of the Gülen group for the failed coup and its leader personally supervising the attempt.

The claims continued under the current US President Donald Trump, as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed this matter with him during his visit to Washington in May 2017.

In June 2019, Turkish Minister of Justice Abdul Hamid Gul visited the US capital and said that he had presented evidence and documents on the American side, stressing that Gulen's extradition file was of the utmost importance to Ankara.

However, all of these efforts have not yet found a clear response from the US authorities.

In addition to Gulen, Ankara calls on the United States to hand over a number of prominent officials and preachers of the Gulen community, most notably Gawdat Turk Yul, and appreciated Onal, and also honored Domanli, his command, and God's command, and so did Hakan Shukran and Ihsan Kavan.

Harpoon in Germany

In Europe, Germany is the largest destination for members of the Gülen community, and Ankara has submitted formal requests to Berlin to retrieve 77 of the group's members who have sought refuge in Germany.

According to the official Turkish Anatolia Agency, about 1,200 Turks, after the failed coup, applied for asylum in Germany, and they hold diplomatic or service passports (granted by the state to those who send them abroad to perform a certain task).

According to Anatolia, Germany is currently harboring prominent leaders of the organization, headed by Adel Aksuz, who has been described in the media as "the imam of the armed forces" in the organization, and the "black box" of the coup attempt, as well as former prosecutors of the Turkish prosecutor Zakariya Oz and Jalal Qara.

Germany is also harboring other former prosecutors, military personnel and diplomats, whom the Turkish authorities have listed in the "Red Notices" to arrest the wanted men, and has requested that they be returned on charges of participating in the failed coup. Berlin continues to refuse to extradite those wanted.

Chase Oxus

The Turkish and German press reported last year that Adel Aksuz lived in Berlin.

After journalists were able to locate and reach his place of residence, German security forces moved Auxus to another place of residence according to these reports, especially after Ankara sent an official note to Berlin about it.

And this year, Turkish and German media said that Berlin had transferred Aksuz to a US Army and NATO barracks in Germany.

Anadolu says that the members of the Gülen community lead a cautious life in Germany.

She points out that before the coup attempt they were buying their daily needs from Turkish shopping centers in Germany, but they stopped doing so after the attempt failed, considering that they are "unsafe" centers.
