China News Service, July 15 (Xinhua) According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on July 15, Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang summoned U.S. Ambassador to China Branstad to discuss the so-called "Hong Kong Autonomy Act" signed by US President Trump. The relevant administrative order made solemn representations.

Zheng Zeguang pointed out that the US law case and administrative order maliciously vilified Hong Kong's National Security Law, canceled the relevant special treatment in Hong Kong, and threatened to impose sanctions on Chinese entities and individuals. This is gross interference in China's internal affairs and seriously violates international law and basic norms of international relations. China firmly opposes this and strongly condemns it. In order to safeguard its own legitimate interests, China will make the necessary response to the wrong actions of the US, including sanctions against US entities and individuals.

Zheng Zeguang emphasized that Hong Kong is a special administrative region of China. The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, based on the Chinese Constitution, the Basic Law of Hong Kong and relevant decisions of the National People's Congress, formulates the Hong Kong National Security Law is entirely China's internal affairs, and no foreign country has the right to speak irresponsibly and arbitrarily. The National Security Law of Hong Kong is aimed at splitting the country, subverting state power, organizing terrorist activities, colluding with foreign or overseas forces to endanger national security, and guaranteeing the rights and freedoms enjoyed by the general citizens of Hong Kong. The enactment and implementation of this law is conducive to safeguarding China’s sovereignty, security and development interests, Hong Kong’s long-term prosperity and stability, and ensuring the stability of “one country, two systems”. It is firmly supported and supported by all Chinese people, including Hong Kong compatriots. Widely welcomed by the international community.

Zheng Zeguang pointed out that the so-called "Hong Kong Autonomy Act" and executive orders fabricated by the United States are not concerned with the "democracy" and "freedom" of the people of Hong Kong, but with vain attempts to obstruct and contain China's development. This attempt will never succeed. The Chinese side urges the US side to correct its mistakes and must not implement the so-called "Hong Kong Autonomy Act" and executive orders to stop interfering in China's internal affairs in any way.

Zheng Zeguang pointed out that the U.S. side has recently taken unscrupulous acts that interfered with China’s internal affairs and harmed China’s interests on issues involving Xinjiang, Tibet, and the South China Sea, and further exposed the essence of naked hegemonism. In this regard, China has taken and will continue to take countermeasures and resolutely safeguard its own core interests. I want to tell the United States that any bullying and injustice imposed on China by the United States will be resolutely countered by China. The United States’ attempt to block China’s development is doomed to failure. We urge the US to change its course immediately, stop defamation and provocation against China, and do not go further and further on the wrong path.
